Principal's Message
Dear LGE Community,
My name is Patrick Manyak, and I am honored and thrilled to be the new principal at La Gloria Elementary School!
Introducing Mr. Manyak
After growing up in San Luis Obispo County, I began my career in education as a kindergarten teacher in southern California in 1991. Since that time, I have taught several other elementary grades, served as a Professor of Education at the University of Wyoming, and, most recently, was an elementary principal in San Jose. My wife is also a long-time elementary teacher, and we have two children who are in college. As a principal, I am genuinely committed to caring for each student at La Gloria as if they were my own child!
I am excited to join the dedicated and dynamic staff at La Gloria and the caring community of Gonzales. My “Educator’s Oath” is to work with the LGE team to create a school community in which
- Each student and family feels warmly welcomed, comfortable, and safe;
- Each student makes accelerated growth in key academic subjects;
- And all students develop as respectful, responsible, and kind young people.
I have been fortunate to be a part of uniquely successful schools in the past, and I believe strongly that La Gloria has all the right ingredients to similarly become a model school for our region and for the state of California. I look forward to working alongside the LGE team and families to create a special school culture where students are excited about learning and, seeing their own success, are further motivated to strive for excellence and to let their brilliance shine!
Communication
No school becomes a uniquely special place without the ongoing support and participation of you, the parents, caregivers, and families. Our team is excited about building partnerships with each of you and working together to make LGE a joyful place that impacts your children’s lives in a positive and lasting way! We believe that your child's success in school is dependent upon good communication between school and home. I will look forward to sending a monthly “Message from the Principal” to keep you updated on the many exciting things happening here at LGE. Most importantly, I am always ready to listen to your suggestions or concerns, and you are welcome to visit me at any time. (If I am unavailable, the office staff can make an appointment for you at the first available time.)
Finally, GUSD’s Wellness Policy (BP 5030,a) states that students may not bring unhealthy snacks, such as chips, candy, soda, and gum, to school. LGE is not only obligated to follow this board policy, but we also believe that doing so will help students’ energy, engagement, and, ultimately, their learning. I am asking for your support as we look to get off to a great start with this policy in the new year: Please monitor the snacks that your child is bringing to school and do not send them with unhealthy snacks. We greatly appreciate your partnership in this!

¡Mi nombre es Patrick Manyak y me siento honrado y emocionado de ser el nuevo director de la Escuela Primaria La Gloria!

Después de crecer en el condado de San Luis Obispo, comencé mi carrera en educación como maestro de jardín de infantes en el sur de California en 1991. Desde entonces, he enseñado en varios otros grados de primaria, fui profesor de educación en la Universidad de Wyoming y, más recientemente, fue director de primaria en San José. Mi esposa también es maestra de primaria desde hace mucho tiempo y tenemos dos hijos que están en la universidad. Como director, estoy genuinamente comprometido a cuidar de cada estudiante de La Gloria como si fuera mi propio hijo.
Estoy emocionado de unirme al personal dedicado y dinámico de La Gloria y a la solidaria comunidad de Gonzales. Mi “juramento de educador” es trabajar con el equipo de LGE para crear una comunidad escolar en la queue
- Cada estudiante y familia se sienten bienvenidos, cómodos y seguros;
- Cada estudiante logra un crecimiento acelerado en materias académicas clave;
- Y todos los estudiantes se desarrollan como jóvenes respetuosos, responsables y amables.
He tenido la suerte de ser parte de escuelas excepcionalmente exitosas en el pasado y creo firmemente que La Gloria tiene todos los ingredientes adecuados para convertirse de manera similar en una escuela modelo para nuestra región y para el estado de California. Espero trabajar junto con el equipo de LGE y las familias para crear una cultura escolar especial donde los estudiantes estén entusiasmados con el aprendizaje y, al ver su propio éxito, estén aún más motivados para esforzarse por alcanzar la excelencia y dejar que su brillantez brille.
Comunicación
Ninguna escuela se convierte en un lugar excepcionalmente especial sin el apoyo y la participación continuos de usted, los padres, los cuidadores y las familias. ¡Nuestro equipo está emocionado de construir asociaciones con cada uno de ustedes y trabajar juntos para hacer de LGE un lugar alegre que impacte la vida de sus hijos de una manera positiva y duradera! Creemos que el éxito de su hijo/a en la escuela depende de una buena comunicación entre la escuela y el hogar. Espero enviarles un “Mensaje del director” mensual para mantenerlos informados sobre las muchas cosas interesantes que suceden aquí en LGE. Lo más importante es que siempre estoy dispuesto a escuchar tus sugerencias o inquietudes y puedes visitarme en cualquier momento. (Si no estoy disponible, el personal de la oficina puede programar una cita para usted en el primer momento disponible).
Finalmente, la Política de Bienestar de GUSD (BP 5030,a) establece que los estudiantes no pueden traer a la escuela refrigerios no saludables, como papas fritas, dulces, refrescos y chicles. LGE no solo está obligado a seguir esta política de la junta, sino que también creemos que hacerlo ayudará a la energía, la participación y, en última instancia, el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Le pido su apoyo mientras buscamos tener un gran comienzo con esta política en el nuevo año: controle los refrigerios que su hijo/a trae a la escuela y no los envíe con refrigerios no saludables. ¡Apreciamos mucho su colaboración en esto!
